"Spring's Fiery
Embrace"

36" x 60" Acrylic on

Nature's many faces of beauty!
T here's a
wonderful garden environment with many lovely trees and flowers
in the condominium complex where I live. I often take walks to
get some much-needed exercise. One day I noticed a wall of
bougainvillea flowers climbing up a fence and reaching over to
grasp a neighboring tree in its ever-widening
embrace.

"The flowers appear on the earth; the time of
the singing of birds is come . . ."
Song of Solomon
2:12
If Flowers Could
Talk
Fiery bougainvilleas seems to
call to me and say,
"God has clothed us in magnificent dress,
So from your worries turn away."
Heaven's reminder to cast all my cares
on Him and confess --
"Since He clothes the flowers so beautifully,
He will also take care of all my needs abundantly."
Isa 58:8 Then shall thy
light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring
forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the
glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.
Isa 58:11 And the LORD
shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought,
and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered
garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Isa 61:11 For as the
earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the
things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD
will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all
the nations.

"A picture must possess a real
power to generate light and for a long time now
I've been conscious of expressing myself
through light or rather in light."
Henri Matisse

No One But You
Surrounded by earthly treasures
and loved ones dear,
I would not cling to them,
for one thing's clear.
No one but You can see me through.
No one but You has a clue
about filling the emptiness within . . .
about lifting us above indwelling sin.
For You have the Words of eternal worth --
And the power to grant us heavenly birth.

Painting
Tip
As artists we need to think
about what we are doing as sculpting with light
as Henri Matisse said. We are expressing
ourselves by painting lights against darks and
warms against cools.
Remember that each landscape
should have a center of interest or focal
point. One of the ways this is achieved is by
placing the lightest light against the darkest
dark and the brightest color where you want the
center of interest to be.
