"Yosemite Sunset"

36" x 60" Acrylic on canvas
Wow! What a place!
Yosemite National Park in California is a spectacular place! If you look closely, you'll see Half
Dome is in the distance under a brilliant sunset sky. I wanted to give the feeling of immensity to this landscape. Painting these incredibly
beautiful places keeps reminding me of the awesome creative power of the Master Designer!

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to
everlasting, thou art God. Ps 90:2
"Be still and know that I am God."

"In art, all who have done something other than their predecessors have merited the
epithet of revolutionary; and it is they alone who are masters."
This quotation by Paul Gauguin is a challenge not to be satisfied by an uninspired copying of the details of the
scene, but to attempt to go deeper and convey an emotional response in the landscape. In time your uniqueness will come out if
you don't give up. Artistic style is similar to handwriting. Our individuality will come out in the end if we don't give up.

Painting Tip
Never put the horizon at the exact center of a painting. It's boring! When creating a painting
remember to divide all the elements unequally. No two mountains should be the exact same size and shape in a painting. Look for
"twins" and "triplets" - where sizes of elements or the spaces between them are very similar.

The War Within
The battlefield is not way out there --
somewhere.
It's very near.
In fact, between each ear.
Our thoughts are where the battle rages.
Are they based on themes
from Scripture's pages
or on the world's vain charms
that create wild alarms?
Fears within our heads
come from earthly dreads.
But keep your thoughts on Him
and enjoy perfect peace within.
An Offering of Time
Create space to wait
in silence
before Thy God.
Present an offering of time
to the Lord
of glory.
Like the woman who poured
precious ointment
on Messiah . . .
an outrageous waste,
according to Judas.
So pour before your Lord
a sacrifice
of moments
and of hours.
